Become a bridge between Japan and the rest by innovative medical technologies

With the development of revolutionary medical devices that utilize AI, IoT, and AR/VR, recent medical technology is on the verge of significant changes. With the perspective of patients always first in our minds, we will stand on the front lines of the world’s cutting-edge technology/information and contribute to the development of medical treatment in Japan.

Always at the forefront

Pushed by government policy (the Health Promotion Act that came into effect in 2003 and introduction of a nicotine dependence management fee in 2006), the smoking rate in Japan has gradually declined, and today it stands in the 20% range.
Since 1990 we focused on the medical device Smokerlyzer (England), which measures the exhaled carbon monoxide concentration and obtained approval for its use as a medical device. Working with Japanese doctors, medical practitioners, and pharmaceutical companies, we conducted clinical research and expanded its use. It has been thirty years since we started this work, and Smokerlyzer has become a representative name for tools that doctors use to help people stop smoking.

Shared ambition

We have ties with respiratory disease doctors throughout the world. In order to introduce rigid bronchoscope and Silicone Airway Stents to Japan, (the late Dr. J. F. Dumon, France). We obtained the necessary skills and spread its use in Japan. Furthermore, we developed the Endobronchial Watanabe Spigot (the late Dr. Yoichi Watanabe, Japan) in collaboration with a French manufacturer and obtained approval for its use as a new medical device. This has contributed to treatment for numerous patients suffering from intractable secondary spontaneous pneumothorax.
In 2016, the Japan Society for Respiratory Endoscopy awarded one of our employees involved with the work the Miyazawa Prize, a great honor, for supporting the strong ambition of doctors.

Ongoing challenge

In Japan, there are no signs of a slowdown in the growth of medical expenses as the labor force declines due to the aging of society. The question is not only bringing in new technologies but also to what extent we can continue development to make effective use of these new technologies in the medical field.
That is a challenge perfect for a trading company. Listening to the opinions of medical professionals and with the cooperation of both Japanese and overseas manufacturers, we find the "answer" from the latest medical research being conducted throughout the world. We want to protect people from the ravages of diseases. We want to make those fighting illness smile. We will continue to take on this challenge.
